What:
You may have seen Adventure Seaplanes in the recent AOPA magazine. We will soon be moving our planes back from FL to MN. We like to share this experience to help offset some of the costs. This trip is an adventure and a very unique way to see the country. It is a great way to hone your seaplane flying skills in a wide variety of environments If you need it with a couple more hours of training take your seaplane checkride at the end of the trip.
Looks like four planes will make the journey. 2 172’s, 180, and a 182 amphib.
This is seaplane flying at its best
When:
Depart FL May 6th, arrive in MN may 8th (weather dependent of course). We leave from the Lake Whales area in FL, typically fly into MCO, it is then a 45 min drive to the planes. Our destination is the Surfside Seaplane Base in MN (8Y4)
You will learn:
Beaching
Docking
River landings
How to consume beverages like a seaplane pirate
Decision making with unique constraints (except for the amphib)
And much more
Logistics:
We overnight in Guntersville Alabama and on the Mississippi in Le Claire Iowa. The last leg is flown over the Mississippi sometimes below the bluffs for a landing or two.
How much: The trip will cost $2,900, in a 172 figure 16-18 hours. If you need to do a seaplane rating additional hours are $190/ HR in a 172. Our normal rate is $250.
You are responsible for getting yourself to FL and from MN, lodging along the way, meals and beverages.
